Running a website is not as easy as some may think and getting it right is even harder. There are countless websites out there and it may get overwhelming trying to find out what path is good and what route isn’t so good. That’s why we have compiled some examples that should be avoided when considering setting up a webpage.
Many people who set up websites, have some form of ICT knowledge or at least have looked into the process of designing a page. This gives them the upper hand which is needed to create and build a successful site but this can also be their downfall. Not all users are going to be computer wizards and this needs to be kept in mind when designing the layout of a page. Easy navigation is key! Many users don’t have the time to decode your website set up and some may be lacking in the IT department. So, keep it simple and also easy! Users should be able to find the buttons they need quickly and without difficulty.
It is important that the items or services listed on your webpage are described well and that users aren’t left with many questions such as what does the services actually offer? Or what size is the product? So, having enough information regarding the product is crucial but and here is that but that always rears its ugly head, there is such a thing as information overload. Having too much information on one page, not only make the page look messy but will also confuse the consumer
Images! We all favor images over text. The right images can make your page look interesting, fun, and attractive. So, we do encourage images where you deem them appropriate but these need to be in high resolution. Having fuzzy pictures that take long to load will have the opposite effect that is being sought after.
When designing a webpage keep in mind what you would like to see and remember that what may be obvious for you, isn’t necessarily obvious for your audience.
