Building a following on Instagram is important but it’s not just about how many followers you have it is also about engagement and building up a community. So how do you go about this?
Connect through emotion. We engage with content that makes us feel a certain way. This is becoming harder and harder as we are slowly becoming more desensitized to the content that is around us. Why do people share content? They want it to add some entertainment or value to their life while also defining themselves to others. We want others to know what we stand for and what we believe in. Once we create content that correlates with these emotions, engagement will increase.
Double tap if…. You’ve probably seen these right? Double tap if you hate…. Or double tap if you like… These increase engagement and if they make people feel a certain type of parent way people will double-tap. You can either have the double-tap statement in the image itself or in the caption. For example, double-tap if you enjoy staying on your PJ’s all day and watching Netflix. These kinds of statements bring people together obviously you need to have a relevant statement.
This can also similarly be used with tags. For example, tag someone who would agree with…. These kinds of posts bring people together and nurture their relationships. These tags not also get you engagement from your current followers but are also great at attracting new followers.
Use hashtags and tags but don’t go overboard. Using irrelevant hashtags will make you look desperate and spammy. This should be avoided. Another way to avoid looking spammy is by sharing the content and adding the relevant hashtags in the comment section. That way a bunch of hashtags won’t be seen in the caption and you won’t look like you are needy for attention.
Influencers are becoming more and more important for a business and are more likely to generate engagement than traditional ads. It can be costly but you’ll be reaching a bunch of followers that you probably wouldn’t have been able to target any other way. Having a quality product and approaching an influencer is the first steps to the process.
We hope this helps to boost your Instagram community!
