Creating marketing content is essential to boost engagement and build relationships with your audience. For this to happen, you will need to put a content strategy in place. Here are some useful tips to consider when building up your strategy.
The first step to creating any strategy is to document your goals. It’s important to have written down in black and white what you would like to achieve. Make sure that these goals are realistic and that they correlate with your company’s goals. Don’t overwhelm your strategy with too many goals, try sticking to 3-5 goals maximum. Creating content for the sake of it will never achieve those goals.
You need to set your content apart from other content. If you don’t figure out what makes your content special, it will be lost with all the other content out there. Incorporate a brand message/slogan into your content to give it that special mark.
Identify the audience you will be reaching out for. For you to be relevant, you need to know who you are aiming your messages at. Once your figure out the audience which is considered as a group of similarly motivated individuals, you can then identify segments within this audience that you might also want to address your content to. It’s crucial to keep in mind that your audience is not you so you need to keep their wants and needs in mind, not yours.
The answer isn’t always to create more content. Many assume that the more content you create, the better but we already said that there is a sea of content out there. Rather than creating new content, try reusing and repurposing old content. Adding more information or an infographic can spice up previously published content.
