If you follow us on our Facebook website, you probably have seen some information on training employees. We truly believe that having training sessions for all employees (not just new ones) is a step on the right path. If you are still not convinced then carry on and check out some of these statistics on training!
Did you know a survey concluded that employees who do not feel they can achieve their career goals at their workplace are 12 times more likely to consider leaving? (IBM Institute for Business Value,2010). This is because employees who feel stuck in their position will lack motivation and leave work feeling unsatisfied unlike employees who have the chance to exceed in their career within the organisation, they are in. The relationship between training and employee retention is high for this exact reason. Retaining employees is more important than what most people think. Not only does it save the time taken to find a replacement but it also saves money as finding a new employee will cost a company. Additionally, the same survey that was previously stated showed that only 21% of new hires intend to stay at companies that do not offer training for their positions. Also keep in mind that when employees feel like they are stagnant in their position, they are more likely to experience boredom and develop negative working habits.
Although contrary to what people might think, staff do actually want to improve even in today’s busy world where we might not have so much free time at work. In fact, 56% of employees say that they would spend more time learning if their manager suggested a course to improve skills (Linkedin, 2018).
To increase productivity and in turn profit, workers need to feel valued while also feeling that they can develop their skills otherwise it is unlikely that your team will be at its full potential. If you look at all these statistics on training, it is clear to see the benefits that come with training.
