If you are human, you probably have at least one form of social media. Even pets have their own social media accounts these days. Whether it’s WhatsApp or Instagram or maybe the more traditional Facebook, you might have heard of the feature ‘stories’. If you remember the old Facebook stories took up a small section of the screen whereas nowadays stories are larger and we are even given a preview before we even click on the story itself. This isn’t a coincidence. Facebook realized the revenue that could be made by using ads through stories due to the high engagement that this feature brought along. Although stories are less social as it is more difficult to interact with them unlike wall posts they are more engaging. They also take up more of your screen but take a lot less time. So are stories the future for social media marketing?
Well, the feed on social media is still a very enticing way to get users to view your content but should be used more to reach out to users and create awareness such as brand awareness yet stories have shown a higher click-through rate with higher conversion meaning that this medium is better for engagement and clicks. Stories seem to be staying for a while if not forever so do experiment with content for both stories and feed. Look at what your competitors are doing and figure out what is best for you.
